First (I) Session of ERO Board in 2024

Today, the Board of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) held its first session (I) for this year.

In this session, following the review, the ERO Board approved the request of the company Albanian Power Exchange ALPEX JSC, for the commencement of the day-ahead trading for the trading zone of the Republic of Kosovo, which will coincide with the day of the beginning of the coupling of the electricity markets between Albania and Kosovo, where the time unit of the market is respective to 00:00-01:00 on 01.02.2024.

In this session, the Board reviewed and approved the request of the Transmission System and Market Operator regarding the amendment of the reserve procedure for the coupling of the day-ahead electricity market Albania-Kosovo, as well as the request of ALPEX on the approval of the assignment of the role of transmission agent for the coupling of Albania-Kosovo electricity markets.

In this session, the Board of ERO also approved the Electricity Annual Balance for the year 2024. The main purpose of the approval of the Annual Electricity Balance is to project the fulfilment of customers’ electricity demand, in sufficient amounts during the year, engaging the electricity production and import capacities. Also in this session, the Board approved the Loss Reduction Plan for DSO losses for the year 2024.

In this session, the ERO Board reviewed and approved the request of the Transmission System and Market Operator regarding the removal of the obligation of Article 5 of the license, which is about the obligation to supply electricity to the four northern municipalities of the country.

In this session, the Board approved 27 customer requests for authorization for self-consumption, of which 8 were submitted legal persons and 19 from natural persons, with a total installed capacity of 504  kW.

Part of review from the Board were also some customer complaints and other issues related to the functioning of the sector as well as the Energy Regulatory Office .
