PUBLIC REACTION

The Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), faced with constant pressure and attacks from various actors, has followed a restrained institutional approach by not getting involved in political debates, in order to maintain impartiality. In addition to this, ERO has continuously ensured regular and transparent communication with the media to inform the public and fulfill legal obligations for transparency and accountability. The culmination and continuation of these interventions makes public reaction inevitable.

ERO clearly emphasizes that the licensing process of energy entities is based on clear legal and regulatory criteria, and is not influenced by various actors that are outside the legal and institutional framework. In connection with the recent statements on the licensing of the company EFT, ERO informs the general public that the company Energy Financing Team LLC has been licensed to carry out the activity of wholesale supply (trade) of electricity from the period 2006 to 2012. We also inform you that Energy Financing Team LLC is licensed by ERO to carry out the activity of wholesale supply (trade) of electricity from 2016 to 2021 and from 2021 to 2026, always in accordance with the legal framework.

Any attempt to present this process differently risks creating uncertainty in the public, and damaging trust in independent institutions and the stability of the electricity market. Such statements by various actors are irresponsible, harmful and do not serve either transparency or the public interest.

ERO is an independent constitutional and legal institution. Any attempt by individuals or certain interest groups to influence regulatory matters constitutes a serious violation of the principle of regulatory independence, undermines the rule of law, damages the functioning of the energy market and jeopardizes the fulfillment of the international obligations of the Republic of Kosovo.
