ERO Recognized by ERRA for the Reform of the Renewable Energy Support Mechanism

The Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) has been recognized by the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) in its publication “Regulatory Story of the Quarter” for the reform of the Renewable Energy Support Mechanism in Kosovo.

This recognition highlights the transition from traditional support models to a modern mechanism that is market-integrated and financially sustainable.

At the core of the reform is the functional establishment of the Renewable Energy Operator (REO), which ensures transparent management of the fund, integration with the electricity market, and the elimination of competition distortions, including the treatment of self-producers.

The reform addresses developments in a liberalized market, the growth of renewable energy sources, and the need for financial stability and liquidity.

This recognition confirms ERO’s role as a leading institution in the region in developing innovative mechanisms for a sustainable and competitive energy system.

ERO thanks the EBRD for the cooperation in carrying out this reform in the energy sector.
